White Ribbon Australia honours the life and legacy of Professor Peter Buckskin AM PSM, a proud Narungga man, visionary educator, and tireless advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Across more than four decades, Professor Buckskin dedicated his life to strengthening education systems, advancing cultural integrity, and championing the voices, rights, and self-determination of First Nations communities. His leadership shaped policy, empowered generations of learners and educators, and contributed to lasting change both nationally and internationally.
In honouring Professor Buckskin’s life, we also recognise the shared commitment to building safer, more respectful communities for all. At White Ribbon Australia, we work to prevent men’s violence against women through education, advocacy, and collective action—seeking to create a nation where respect, equality, and safety are fundamental for every individual.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in Professor Buckskin’s memory will support this important work, helping to drive lasting social change and contribute to a future free from violence.
We extend our deepest condolences to Professor Buckskin’s family, loved ones, and the many communities who were touched by his wisdom, leadership, and generosity of spirit.

Thank you for all your wisdom during my PhD at DUCIER and making it to my graduation in 2017 despite being so ill at the time.
