The White Ribbon Day Convoy, which is now an annual event, was initially developed and run by local community organisations and services. Now an integral part of the Campbelltown City Committee, the Convoy involves several Campbelltown-based organisations and services. The convoy drives through neighbourhood towns of Macquarie Fields, Minto, Leumeah, Ambervale, and stops at schools and community hubs to raise awareness about White Ribbon and the prevention of men’s violence against women. At each stop, there are numerous activities and information stalls where members of the community can become involved in the discussion about domestic and family violence. With clear goals to foster community cohesion, this year’s White Ribbon Day Convoy will finish at Koshigaya Park where all participants are encouraged to take the White Ribbon Oath. The activity of the Campbelltown City Committee demonstrates the power of community-driven action in the prevention of men’s violence against women.
