The Strengthening Community Access, Inclusion and Wellbeing Advisory Committee (SCAIW AC) is an Committee of Balranald Shire Council (BSC).

Due to C19 restrictions the SCAIW AC wish to deliver a contactless community awareness raising event regarding the importance of ending all violence against women and children and the work of the White Ribbon organisation.

Do raise awareness the SCAIW AC will use media (local newspapers and newsletters, bulletin boards and social media) to encourage community members and local businesses to fly a white balloon(s) commencing on Friday 30th July.

Residents of the Balranald Shire will be encouraged to fly a white balloon(s) on or around the front of their home to show their support in ending violence against women and children.

Businesses within the Shire will be encouraged to make a window / 'front of house' display using White Ribbon resources.

It is hoped this event will commence a long-term plan by the SCAIW to stand against violence against women and children by raising awareness, letting victims know their are supports available and being increasingly educated as a Committee to support victims. The SCAIW AC plans to hold a larger community event on White Ribbon day in November.
